CL PUMP TO US BASEPLATE: The distance between the centerline of the pump and the underside of the baseplate. 

This item is a point that many designers and vendors forget it.

but in some case that we don’t have enough NPSHA, it may be affected on pump’s design especially on cavitation.

– When we calculate NPSHa, we don’t know amount of centerline PUMP TO underside BASEPLATE, therefore we estimate a distance for centerline PUMP TO underside BASEPLATE Item during NPSHa calculation. During VDR we get this item from vendor and then compare it with estimated amount. If it is more than estimated number, it should be subtracted from NPSHa.

– 7.3.4 The height of the pump-shaft centreline above the baseplate shall be minimized. Adequate clearance shall be provided between the casing drain connection and the baseplate so that drain piping the same size as the connection can be installed without the use of a street (male-female) elbow. {API 610}

Comments:

• The distance between the centerline of the pump and the underside of the baseplate shall be specified in the mechanical data sheet.
• The height of the pump-shaft centreline above the baseplate shall be minimized.
